INFORMATION

The UK’s Second Largest City’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Competition.

The Birmingham Open Gi and NoGi will be held at The Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre Birmingham

The UK’s Second Largest City’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Competition.

The event will have the following divisions, Boys, Girls Gi,  Gi and NoGi Juveniles,, Adult and Master divisions.

If you have no suitable opponent once registration closes, you will be offered a full refund.

You can make changes to your registration via your smoothcomp account until midday on 5th of November. This is your responsibility.

If there are two or more competitor in any division the category will run.

Where possible, all competitors will fight  within their own belt, age and weight division. Adult competitors may move up a weight category but not be permitted to move up to a higher belt category. Subject to number of competitors within the Boys, Girls, Juveniles and Teens brackets, White and Grey belt categories, and Orange and Green belt categories may be merged.

Matches may start in advance of published bracket times. We recommend all athletes registerer at the venue at least 1 hour before for his/her advertised start time.

Doors will open at 9:30am. First matches will be 10:00am

Bring valid smooth comp ID

Weigh ins will be on the day you fight, just before your first match. Competitors must weigh in with their gi and belt on if doing Gi or Gi and NoGi.. If you fail to make weight you will be DQ’d. You will not be able to move divisions.

Absolute divisions are pre registration.

If there are no other registrations in your category you will be allowed to move division once registration has closed or you will be entitled to a full refund, available until Wednesday 6th at midday.

Registration fees will be offered at a discounted rate, then a normal rate, then a late entry rate.

Coaches must arrange for coaching passes in advance by emailing us at info@bjjbirminghamopen.co.uk.

Two coach pass per club

Weigh ins will be on the day just before your first match. Competitors must weigh in with their gi and belt on and no-gi gear.

Gi’s must be correctly sized as per IBJJF rules, with 4 fingers space in the cuff of sleeves and trousers, and no more than 4 fingers space between hand and gi for jacket and ankle and gi for trousers. If your gi or belt are deemed unsuitable you will have to find a replacement or will be disqualified. Jacket and trousers must be colour matched.

Respected rules.

This event has a zero tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behaviour by coaches, parents/guardians, spectators and competitors.

All in attendance must show some restraint when their students or team mates are competing. There will be competitors and spectators of all ages at this event and we are here to set an example. Any swearing, inappropriate gestures, violence (towards person or property) or berating the officials (regardless of any decisions they make) will not be tolerated.

If this happens, the referee/organiser has the right to disqualify that competitor, or to ask the coach to leave the area. If those concerned do not comply with the referee/organisers request the competitor will be disqualified from the event.

If a coach, parent or team mate encroaches onto the mat, or past any barriers that are in place, or man handles an official in any way, that person will be asked to leave the venue and the whole team will not be permitted to take any further part in the competition.

Car parking is available at the facility.

Spectator fees are £10 per person, payable on the day.

Matches will follow IBJJF rules.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or admission. The respect rule will be in operation and any competitor, coach or spectator that breaks this rule may be removed from the event.
