There’s no better time to visit Copenhagen than in the summer, when the city comes alive with long, sunlit evenings that seem to stretch on forever.
You’ll feel the history in the air as you stroll (or, more authentically, cycle!) past royal palaces or other famous landmarks like Tivoli. The gardens and parks will be in full bloom, inviting you to have a picnic or just sit and soak up the sun.
The nearest beach is never far away, so there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, or having a relaxed beer with new friends.
The canals are the heart of Copenhagen, and there are plenty of boat tours that offer a fantastic way to see the city from a different perspective. Numerous places around the harbor have swimming areas, cafes, food markets and anything else you could wish for on a summer day. These are very popular areas for both tourists and locals to hang out.
And if you feel like exploring some of Denmark’s extensive Viking heritage, just swing by the National Museum to come face to face with the battle-scarred weapons and rugged ships that these ruthless seafarers once used to conquer the world! Or take a short train ride out of town to visit a real viking ship museum.
