Events

This event will follow the IBJJF ruleset, with all matches lasting 5 minutes. A round robin/pool play system will be in place to ensure competitors get multiple matches whenever possible!

Event Highlights:

Gi and No-Gi Divisions for juveniles, adults, masters, seniors, and veterans.
Divisions for all belt levels in Gi and No-Gi, with No-Gi divisions organized by BJJ rank or time served.
Free Entry for Black Belts using the code: FreeBlackBeltCalOpen25.
Absolute Divisions for Gi and No-Gi, with a £10 entry fee. Winners of divisions with 8 or more competitors will receive a Custom Edinburgh BJJ Open 2025 Trophy

Division Details:

White Belt: IBJJF white belt rules apply. No competitors previously ranked above grey belt at junior level, or those with black belts in judo, national-level wrestlers, or MMA fighters at any level.
Blue Belt: IBJJF blue belt rules.
Purple Belt: IBJJF purple belt rules.
Brown Belt: IBJJF brown belt rules.
Black Belt: IBJJF black belt rules.

Age Categories:

Juvenile: Ages 16 – 17
Adult: Ages 18 – 29
Masters 1 & 2: Ages 30–39
Masters 3 & 4: Ages 40+
Masters 5+: Ages 50+

All matches will last 5 minutes. Weigh-ins will take place immediately before your first match. Competitors in the No-Gi divisions will not need to weigh in again for Gi, and all weigh-ins will be conducted without the Gi.

Pricing:Adults/Masters (Male & Female):

Early Bird: £40 (1 division), £50 (2 divisions)
Regular: £50 (1 division), £60 (2 divisions)
Late: £60 (1 division), £70 (2 divisions)

Juveniles:

Early Bird: £40 (1 division), £50 (2 divisions)
Regular: £50 (1 division), £60 (2 divisions)
Late: £60 (1 division), £70 (2 divisions)

Additional Information:

Team and Academy Trophies: Awards for top team and individual academy performances.
Smoothcomp Registration: Competitors can update their weight division until the closing date on Smoothcomp. No changes will be allowed after this, and disqualification will occur if competitors don’t make weight without refund.

Refund Policy:Refunds will be provided as credit for future events only if you withdraw before the registration deadline. Withdrawals after this date will not be refunded.

Respect Rule:We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior from coaches, parents, spectators, and competitors. Disrespectful conduct will result in disqualification or removal from the event.
