ROOTS INVITATIONAL III
Roots Invitational III
The Roots Invitational III is the third edition of the amateur and pro grappling event by Roots Collective in collaboration with Mojitsu, held in Innsbruck, Austria
IMPORTANT: Registration is only active after the payment is complete. If payment is not complete before the end of the registration period you will not be able to participate in the event!
This event consists of two parts:
- The Roots Invitational Undercard: a tournament for all amateur grapplers wanting to test out their skills in competition
- The Roots Invitational Pro Card: a selection of super fights featuring some of Austria’s best grapplers in selected 10 minutes EBI rules grappling matches
To register for the event please sign up on this page, to get selected for the Pro Card email mojitsu.events@gmail.com or message @mojitsu_ on Instagram with your weight, experience and accomplishments. To get selected for the pro card you need to be a purple belt or higher and have previous competitive experience.
In an effort to support women’s grappling, all women compete for free on the roots invitational undercard. The main card is open to women bluebelt and up with competitive experience.
The Undercard…
…is an in-house grappling tournament following Grappling Industries Rules available here
You can compete both with the Gi and in No-Gi.
Brackets will be generated according to registration numbers taking into account weight and experience levels as much as possible while providing matches for all the athletes.
Brackets and Bracket Types will be handled accordingly matching participants with a guaranteed one match in each discipline (Gi/Nogi).
Brackets will be published on the day before the tournament.
Please register according to your experience levels, this includes all forms of grappling (BJJ, Jiujitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Sambo, MMA, Catch Wrestling, etc). If proof is found that an athlete registered in a division below his experience level, the athlete will be disqualified without a refund.
- Beginner: under 2 years of experience (Grappling Industries Whitebelt Rules)
- Intermediate: 2-4 years of experience (Grappling Industries Bluebelt Rules)
- Pro: If you have more than 4 years of experience or consider yourself a Pro grappler, please get in touch with the organisers to arrange a match on the Main Card of the event.
Weighins open at 08:00, there will be a rules meeting at 08:30, matches will start at 09:00. Weighin can be done at any point up to 15 minutes before the scheduled match time and no specific outfit needs to be worn. The times for the pro card will be published closer to the event.
For any questions and updates on the event contact @mojitsu_ on Instagram or mojitsu.events@gmail.com
The Absolutes
The absolutes are the fastest way for less experienced grapplers to get on the main card. The bracket will be fought under blackbelt Grappling Industries rules. If there is a minimum of 4 participants, the final will be held in a 10min EBI rules match to open the main card. This gives hungry and up and comers the opportunity to qualify for the main card and with a good performance might open the door for future superfights on the Mojitsu Events Series.
