The most exciting italian individual and team Sub-Only Grappling event.
WAR Submission Kings is a Sub-Only Grappling Promotion based in Italy and founded in 2018 that manages individual and team competitions at both professional and amateur levels. Our next event: WAR Submission Kings 11 is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Livorno, Italy.
SUMMARY
WAR Submission Kings 11 will hold competitions in Individual (1 athlete) or Quintet (5 athletes) format both Male and Female, divided into Professional (highest technical standard) and Amateur (standard for beginners and intermediate) levels.
All Professional, Individual and Quintet matches valid for the WAR Submission Kings Championship are managed directly by the Promotion. You can send your application to info@warsubmissionkings.it.
The registration fee for the Professional & Amateur Individual Male & Female Grand Prix (1 Athlete) is €20 by April 20, €30 from April 21 to June 11 and €45 from June 12 to June 25.
The registration fee for the Professional Quintet Male & Female Grand Prix (1 Athlete) is €20 by April 20, €30 from April 21 to June 11 and €45 from June 12 to June 25.
The Promotion offers cash prizes for the best athletes: Best Male Grappler, Best Female Grappler, Best Match, Best Submission.
ATTENTION: Registrations end on the midnight of 25 June. Once the maximum number of athletes is reached, registrations may be closed early. Until 25 June it is possible to change Level and Weight Class. The organization reserves the right to merge different weight categories if necessary.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES
LEVEL
- Professional
This is the highest grappling skill level. Whoever believes this is the own level can join this division. Only people with over 16 years of age are allowed to compete.
- Amateur
This is a lower grappling skill level for beginners and intermediate. Whoever believes this is the
own level can join this division.

Competition for teams made up of a maximum of 5 athletes. Each team member registers with the personal details under respective team name. Registration is not transferable to another team member.
Amateur / Individual / Male & Female / Grand Prix
Competition for individual athletes. Each athlete registers with their personal data. Registration is not transferable to other people.

FORMAT
- Professional / Individual / Male & Female / Championship & Grand Prix
The reigning champion defends the title against the designated challenger in a single grappling match valid for the Individual Championship. The winner of the Individual Gran Prix becomes the next official challenger to the reigning champion.
- Professional / Quintet / Male & Female / Championship & Grand Prix
The defending champion team defends its title against the designated challenger team in a single team grappling match valid for the Quintet Championship. The winning team of the Quintet Grand Prix becomes the next official challenger team to the reigning champion team.
- Amateur / Individual / Male & Female / Youth, Adult, Master / Grand Prix
All competitors face each other in the Individual Grand Prix: a single elimination tournament. The winner of the Individual Grand Prix becomes the reigning champion.

- No points, advantages or interruptions.
- All submissions are legal.
- No strikes or slams.
- Submission is the main way to win. When either competitor taps the match is over.
- If there is not a submission three neutral side judges will determinate the winner. The judgment criterion is based on effective grappling skill: aggression, dangerous submission attacks and positional dominance.
- Professional / Individual / Male & Female / Grand Prix
- All matches are 10 minutes in length.
- No points, advantages or interruptions.
- All submissions are legal.
- No strikes or slams.
- Submission is the main way to win. When either competitor taps the match is over.
- If there is not a submission one neutral side judge will determinate the winner. The judgment criterion is based on effective grappling skill: aggression, dangerous submission attacks and positional dominance.
- Professional / Quintet / Male & Female / Championship & Grand Prix
- Time Limits: All matches are 8 minutes in length. Championship / Regular Weight Class: in case of 20kg+ weight difference, Light Weight Class: in cases of 10kg+ weight difference, Female Regular Weight Class: in cases of 7kg+ weight difference matches are 4 minutes in length. Grand Prix / Male: in cases of 10kg+ weight difference, Female: in cases of 7kg+ weight difference matches are 4 minutes length.
- Prohibited Act (Serious Fouls = Disqualification Loss): Heel hooks, Pile-driving/spiking/suplexing an opponent onto head or neck, Biting, Grabbing hair/body hair/nose/ears, Attacking or pushing the groin and eyes, Kind of intentional striking (punch, elbow, knee, head butt, kick, etc.)
- Illegal Issues (Minor Fouls = Warning). Scissors takedown from stand position, Jumping into closed guard, Inducing stalling by closed guard, Keeping position with no obvious intent to attack, Defensive action only from standing position with no takedown attempt, Intentionally forcing opponent off the mat, Intentional escape from the mat to evade bad positioning, Grabbing three or less fingers at one time, Covering the mouth and nose with the palm, Sitting without attempt to grab opponent, Not following the referee’s instructions.
- In case of warning given to a fighter, the opponent has 4 choices of restarting position (Mount, Side Mount, Knee on Belly, Back Turtle). The bout is restarted at the signal of the referee.
- In case of a warning to both fighters, both start from standing position.
- Three warnings result in disqualification loss.
- Winner fights to the next fighter from the opposing team.
- Bout will be ruled a draw if no finish in the allotted time.
- Draw means both fighters are out.
- If the last fighter loses, the team loses.
- Judgment: (in case of the last bout only) the fighter with less warnings wins. In case of the same number of warnings in the last fight, the team with the less total warnings wins. In case of the same total warnings, the judge determines the result from the last fight by decision.

- These techniques are not legal: neck crank, twister, heel hook, scissor takedown.
- Submission is the main way to win. When either competitor taps the match is over.

PRIZES
All costs of participating in War Submission Kings serve to create a better and more professional competition experience as well as generating cash prizes for the best athletes, therefore the greater the participation the greater the total prize pool. The awards for the best athletes are divided into: Best Male Grappler, Best Female Grappler, Best Match, Best Submission.

All Championship weigh-ins takes place the day prior the event. Every athlete or team can complete the process on location or online. The promotion will notify all details the days before the start of the competitions.

All Professional Grand Prix weigh-ins takes place the day of the event. Every athlete or team can complete the process directly on competition location anytime up to at least 60 minutes before the own scheduled division start. The promotion will notify all details the days before the start of the competitions.
- Amateur / Individual / Male & Female / Youth, Adult, Master / Grand Prix
All Amateur Grand Prix weigh-ins takes place the day of the event. Every athlete or team can complete the process directly on competition location anytime up to at least 60 minutes before the own scheduled division start. The promotion will notify all details the days before the start of the competitions.
HYGIENE
- Professional & Amateur
- Athletes’ finger and toe nails should be trimmed and short.
- Long hair shall be tied up so as not to cause opponents any discomfort.
- Athletes presenting skin lesions shall be directed to the medical staff. Under any circumstances, the medical staff has the final say on whether to allow an athlete to compete or not.
UNIFORM
- Professional & Amateur
- Athletes have to wear compression shorts or board shorts without pockets. Spats can be worn under the shorts if selected. Athletes also have to wear a rashguard without any color requirement. Attached metal or plastic of any kind is expressly forbidden. Athletes cannot compete shirtless or wearing a loose shirt of any kind.
- Use of any foot gear, head gear, hair pins, jewelry, cups (genital protectors) or any other protector fashioned of hard material is forbidden. Also forbidden is the use of head wear, be it bandages, hoods or an elastic cap.
- The use of joint protectors (knee, elbow braces, etc.) that increase body volume are forbidden.
