About This Event

General information

  • The BSC Tournament tournament will take place on January 31st, 2026 at the Centre Sportif de la Vigne Blanche.
  • The event is open exclusively to white belt competitors, with two age categories: Adults (18+) and Masters (35+).
  • Spectator entry is free to create a friendly and accessible atmosphere for everyone.

Match format

  • Match duration: 6 minutes.
  • First 3 minutes: no points are awarded, submissions only. If no submission occurs, the match continues.
  • Last 3 minutes: full points system is applied (takedown, sweep, guard pass, mount, back control, etc.).
  • If the score is tied at the end of regulation time, the referee decides the winner based on submission threats, positional dominance and overall aggression.

Weigh-in

  • Weigh-ins are done without the Gi  
  • You can choose one of the following options:On site, at the door opening from 11:00.On site, no later than 1 hour before your first match (check your schedule on Smoothcomp before the event day).Remote weigh-in by video the day before at 20:00: a story with the password and instructions will be posted on our Instagram account @bellevue.bsc.
  • If an athlete does not make weight for their registered division, the organization reserves the right to move them to another appropriate weight category or, if this is not possible, to prevent them from competing.
  • Please arrive early enough and follow the staff instructions in order to avoid any delay in the schedule.

General rules

  • Only white belt athletes are allowed to compete in this event.
  • All competitors must respect the referees, opponents, staff and spectators at all times.
  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour (insults, violence, disrespect, stalling on purpose, etc.) may lead to penalties or disqualification.
  • The referee is the highest authority on the mat and their decisions are final.

Uniform

No-Gi

  • A tight-fitting rashguard (short or long sleeves) is mandatory.
  • Grappling or MMA shorts without pockets, zippers or hard plastic/metal parts.
  • Spats/leggings are allowed under the shorts.

Gi

  • A clean BJJ kimono in good condition (commonly white, blue or black).
  • Jacket and pants must allow proper gripping and must not be torn or dangerous.

Belt

  • Only white belts are allowed.
  • The belt must be properly tied and secured during the match.

Clothing under the Gi

  • Men: may wear a tight rashguard under the Gi jacket (recommended).
  • Women: must wear a rashguard or sports top under the Gi jacket.
  • Underwear is mandatory; spats under the pants are allowed.

Forbidden items

  • Dirty, wet or torn Gis.
  • Any metal or hard plastic elements on the clothing.
  • Loose cotton t‑shirts under the Gi.
  • Jewellery, visible piercings, watches, chains, hard hair accessories, etc.
  • Hard protective gear that may injure the opponent.

Scoring system (points phase)

  • 2 points: takedown with control.
  • 2 points: sweep from guard.
  • 2 points: knee-on-belly.
  • 3 points: established guard pass.
  • 4 points: mount.
  • 4 points: back control with proper hooks or hip/upper body control.
  • 2 points: strong submission attempt stopped out of bounds, if the criteria are met.

All positions must be controlled for at least 3 seconds for points to be awarded.

Fouls and penalties (summary)

  • Minor fouls: pulling guard without grips, intentionally stepping out of bounds, lack of combativeness, illegal grips, ignoring referee instructions, etc.
  • Penalty progression:1st offence: warning.2nd offence: 2 points awarded to the opponent.3rd offence or major foul: disqualification.
  • 1st offence: warning.
  • 2nd offence: 2 points awarded to the opponent.
  • 3rd offence or major foul: disqualification.
  • Major fouls: illegal techniques for white belts, attempts to injure an opponent, striking, slamming or any other dangerous behaviour.
