ÍSLANDSMEISTARAMÓT GI 2026

ÍSLANDSMEISTARAMÓT GI 2026 is Iceland's national Gi championship, covering age divisions from 4 years old through adults, with belt levels from white to black.

Children and youth divisions (ages 4–17) compete without belt distinction, in a round robin format guaranteeing each competitor at least two matches; boys and girls share weight classes up to age 15, and 14-17 year olds also have separate open divisions by gender. Adults are split into three skill brackets—Beginner (white belt), Intermediate (blue belt), and Elite (purple, brown, black belt)—with additional men's and women's open divisions prioritizing elite competitors and division winners.

Competition follows IBJJF rules with some local adjustments: submissions are permitted from age 10, third place is always contested, adult matches run 6 minutes, and the elite division uses IBJJF black belt rules. Organizers may merge divisions if registration numbers are low, and no rules meeting is held for adults—competitors and coaches are expected to know the regulations in advance.

Schedule:

• Doors open at 8:00
• Children/youth weigh-in at 8:15; tournament starts at 9:00
• Adults must weigh in at least 60 minutes before their first match; adult divisions begin around 11:00

Entry fees: 3,500 ISK for competitors aged 4–17, 7,500 ISK for adults (18+). Guardians must register or approve registration for children. Spectators pay 1,000 ISK on site.
