🏄♀️ Catch Your Wave: Praia Baleal – Sul Peniche is world-famous as a surfing mecca, and we’re putting you right in the heart of the action!
Our dedicated surf lessons will be held at Praia Baleal – Sul (South Baleal Beach). This renowned beach break is known for its reliable and diverse waves, making it an excellent location for all skill levels. The bay’s unique geography offers shelter, often resulting in beginner-friendly foam waves on the inside and more challenging lines further out for experienced surfers. Whether it’s your very first time standing on a board or you’re looking to polish your cutbacks, Baleal Sul is the ideal spot for your surf journey.
🏰 Explore Peniche: A Peninsula of History Beyond the mats and the waves, you’ll have the chance to explore the historic Peniche Peninsula. Peniche offers a fascinating blend of maritime history, rugged natural beauty, and authentic Portuguese culture.
History & Highlights The Fortaleza de Peniche: This imposing 16th-century fortress, perched dramatically on the coastline, is the city’s most iconic landmark. Originally built for coastal defense, it served a dark chapter as a political prison during the Estado Novo dictatorship (1933–1974). Today, it is home to the National Museum of Resistance and Freedom, offering a powerful look into Portugal’s struggle for democracy. Cabo Carvoeiro: As the most western point of the peninsula, this rugged cape features a historic lighthouse and stunning geological formations, including the famous “Nave of Stone” (Pedra da Nau). The views across the Atlantic, especially at sunset, are spectacular. A Fisherman’s Town: Peniche remains one of Portugal’s largest traditional fishing ports. You can experience the lively atmosphere at the harbor and enjoy the region’s culinary specialty: incredibly fresh seafood and fish stews(like caldeirada). Baleal Island: Connected to the mainland by a narrow sand isthmus, the tiny islet of Baleal is a perfect spot for scenic walks and offers a unique perspective on the surrounding surf breaks. Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the city center, discover the ancient churches, or simply relax and take in the powerful atmosphere of this historic peninsula where the land meets the wild Atlantic.
